A Dutch walnut and line inlaid musical longcase clock
Third quarter 18th Century
The hood with blind frets to the front and upper sides, later finials, with canted angles to sides and plinth, the dial with mask and foliate lower spandrels to a (formerly) silvered and arcaded Roman chapter ring with well engraved half hour markers, matted centre with recessed seconds disc and date aperture, the upper spandrels inset with strike/silent and two tune music selection rings (HOOGOP DE SOLDER/MENUET), the arch with painted and engraved rolling moon, the eight day movement with six pillars, anchor escapement and Dutch rack strike on two bells, with music on six bells via ten hammers operated by a 6 cm. (2½in.) pinned cylinder
