the trefoil openwork panel with transluscent enamel and seed pearl foliate decoration with fresh water pearl drop, suspended by a smaller matching panel joined by chain-link swags, to a neckchain, the reverse panel with maker's mark for Krementz & Company.

Krementz & Company were founded in 1866 when George Krementz opened a shop manufacturing jewellery at 14 Oliver Street, Newark, in partnership with Alfred Van Cleve Genung and Julius A. Lebkuecher. In 1869 the firm was given the name Krementz & Company which continued to grow and in 1875 a larger premises was purchased. In 1893 George Krementz was joined by his brothers Frank and Thomas and after his death his two sons Richard and Walter together with Carl lebkuecher (later changed to Lester) son of Julius, continued the business.
