Lot Essay

These or the following lot may be identifiable with the '2 window cornices to match £2.16' the 'mahogany four post bed with japanned cornices' supplied by Mayhew and Ince in 1791 to Francis, 5th Duke of Bedford for Oakley Park, Bedfordshire. As another 'mahogany and japanned 4 post bed, with chintz hangings' was also supplied in 1794, alongside japanned chairs etc., it is possible that further window cornices also formed part of this commission.
