Each with distressed caned back and seat, the arched cartouche form channelled back with stylised rosette carving, on channelled cabriole legs and scrolled feet, redecorated, with traces of earlier blue and green underdecoration, one inscribed in pencil 'no. 7 Bathroom', with batten carrying-holes, one stamped 'J B Fromageau' and 'JME' (4)
Provenance
Probably acquired in Paris by John, 4th Duke of Bedford (d.1771) following his appointment as Ambassador to the Court of Louis XV in 1762.
