Above a fluted columnar shaft on X-form support with stylised turned finials and inset block paterae, inscribed in chalk 'Table from Room 13?', top distressed, lacking some mouldings
27¾ in. (70.5 cm.) high, 20½ in. (52 cm.) wide, 15¼ in. (38.8 cm.) deep

Possibly acquired by John, 6th Duke of Bedford and his second wife Georgiana for Endsleigh House, Devon circa 1820-40.

Lot Essay

The use of oak, and chalk inscription for '(Bed)room 13' suggests that this table was probably commissioned by John, 6th Duke of Bedford and his second wife Georgiana for Endsleigh House, Devon circa 1820.
