Probably acquired by John, 6th Duke of Bedford (d.1839), for the Thornery at Woburn.

Lot Essay

This whimsical table recalls the Chinese Dairy at Woburn, designed by Henry Holland for the 5th Duke of Bedford in 1789, with a painted interior attributed to Frederick Crace (see lot 900).
