Lot Essay

Almost certainly the '3 Plaster Busts' recorded in the Anti-Room in the 1839 Inventory.
Like the plaster figures (Lot 802) these busts, which include the celebrated poets Hesiod and Homer (centre and right), may originally have been intended to furnish the Endsleigh Library of John, 6th Duke of Bedford (d.1839).
