together with a Restauration bronze presse-papier of a sleeping infant, on a verdi antico base (2)

Lot Essay

Inventoried as 'Bronze Figure (Napolean)' in the Small Library in 1839.
The 6th Duke of Bedford, like many of his Whig contemporaries, was an ardent admirer of Napolean and an avid collector of memorabilia.
