The glazed table-top's Roman mosaic of shells and fossils may have been executed by Georgia Duchess of Bedford and her daughter Rachel for display in Jeffry Wyatt's Shell House and Grotto, which may expalin the table's absence from the 1839 Inventory (The Shell House and Grotto are not listed in the 1839 Inventory). It's scalloped frame is wrapped by branches in the Swiss Rustic fashion, while its pillar and hollow-sided 'altar plinth' relates to patterns for drawing room 'tea poy' tables in G.Smith's, Collection of Designs for Household Furniture and Interior Decoration, 1808, (pl. 79).
