Lot Essay

Field Marshal Ferdinand Foch (1851-1929) was appointed Supreme Commander of the Allied forces in France during World War One, having secured a victory over the German offensive at the Second Battle of the Marne, 15th-18th July 1918. He eventually accepted the German surrender.
