A rare printed Masquerade fan, the leaf a hand-coloured etching of elegant masked couples dancing at a Venetian ball, two dressed as figures from the Commedia del'Arte, Pierrot and Punchinello, two others as an Indian King and an African King, with the band to the left and guards at the entrances, the verso with a hand-coloured etching of an interior with an elegant couple playing backgammon, three musicians, a couple dancing and three figures conversing, two dogs playing on the left, the ivory sticks carved and pierced with flowers and painted with birds and flowers --10 ½in. (27cm.), English, circa 1750, repairs to folds on verso
