Of oval section with beaded rims, applied on each side with a classical medallion after James Tassie, the hinged cover with an acorn and leaf finial and an engraved coat-of-arms, with a later lock - 5¼in. (13.3cm.) wide, 14oz. gross.

Lot Essay

A very similar teapot of the same year also by Fogelberg, and a cream jug of 1780 by Fogelberg working in partnership with Stephen Gilbert are in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum and are illustrated in Robert Rowe, Adam Silver, numbers 76A and 76B.
