FIRST EDITION of Rennefort's work detailing French plans to colonise Madagascar. Containing the narrative of Rennefort's numerous voyages, it represents a very important source for the history of the first French settlements in the West Indies, providing information on the economy and trade in the region, and analyzing the culture of the country and its people.
