RARE. An uninterrupted run of the Government Gazette, covering an interesting period in the history of the Cape Province during the governorship of Major-General Sir Benjamin D'Urban. The Gazette offers both a contemporary source for official reports and proclamations and, in addition, is a primary source for incidental information - who died, who got married, which ship sailed when, the weekly price of commodities, etc. Sold as a periodical not subject to return.
