Lot Essay

Priestley was assistant geologist on Shackleton's British Antarctic Expedition, 1907-09 and geologist on Scott's British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-14. He published the volume on glaciology with Sir Charles Wright in the Terra Nova expedition's Scientific Reports and later led an academic and administrative career at Cambridge and elsewhere.
