Filming of the Pinball Wizard sequence for Tommy featuring Elton John as well as 1500 extras took place on Wednesday 8th - Friday 10th May, 1974 at the King's Theatre, Albert Road, Portsmouth. The vendor, Xavier Russell, son of the film's director, Ken Russell, was an extra during this sequence shot in Portsmouth. He was given this drumstick by Keith Moon at the end of filming and personally obtained all the signatures on the drumstick that day.
