TWO SMALL JADE FIGURAL CARVINGS

One a white jade figure of the poet Li Po, shown reclining drunkenly, his long beard draped over his exposed belly; the other a white and brown jade figure of Yanzi shown carrying a milk bucket in one hand while holding in the other the leg of the deer skin draped over his back for which the brown area of the stone has been used

Lot Essay
Yanzi, an exemplar of filial piety, is shown holding a milk bucket and clothed in a deer skin which he wore in order to mingle with the herd and obtain doe's milk for his parents' eye disease.
