Lot Essay

Known in China as ma jun, 'soft Jun' is clearly related to the wares produced at the Jun kilns in Henan province. Compare the similar bud-form water pot illustrated by J. Ayers, Chinese Ceramics: The Koger Collection, New York, 1985, p. 54, no. 32.
