Lot Essay

White wares were popular in the Kangxi period, and were usually decorated with subtle incised decoration, as seen on the present vase. Compare a stem bowl with a design of the eight Buddhist emblems, illustrated in Chinese Art from The Newark Museum, China Institute in America, New York, 1980, p. 53, no. 31.
