The bowl Muromachi period (16th century), signed Myochin Nobuie and dated Tenbun yonen rokugatsu kichi-jitsu (1535.6)
The thirty-two plate russet-iron suji bachi (bowl with standing ridges) mounted with a ten-stage tehen kanamono of shakudo and gilt-metal in the form of a lotus flower, the bottom section decorated with foliate scroll on a nanako ground, the edge of the peak fitted with shakudo edging carved with scrolling vines on a nanako ground, the helmet fitted with a lacquer three-lame manju jikoro of kiritsuke kozane (false lamellae) laced in deep blue and orange, the bowl adorned with four decorative ornaments pierced with chrysanthemums and family crests of floral rhombuses, the rim of the bowl gilded, the fukikaeshi partly covered with stencilled leather with gilded family crests of futatsu-tomoe (double commas); maedate (forecrest) a Buddhist ken; kuwagata (decorative horns) and imitation kuwagata-dai (mount for kuwagata) pierced with foliate scroll
