Edo period (19th century)
Decorated in gold, silver, red and black hiramaki-e and kirigane on a roiro-nuri ground with cranes and chrysanthemums and comprising: a four-tier stacking box; a removable tray with cut sides containing five rectangular sweet trays, a square tray set on four feet and a sake cup; a rectangular box and two metal sake flasks in stands; interiors red lacquer; the outer case fitted with a silvered-brass loop handle
