The long slender inro decorated with a Portuguese feeding a cockatoo on an elaborate perch, the figure rendered in high-relief, his face and hands inlaid in mother-of-pearl, his coat decorated with scrolling vine patterns in gold lacquer with buttons inlaid in ivory, the bird's perch inlaid in pewter and the bird and his feeder designed in brown, red and black lacquer, roiro-nuri ground; interior black lacquer; fitted with a gilt-metal pierce-carved ojime with chrysanthemums and a grasshopper and a large painted-wood mask netsuke signed Deme Toshimitsu
