Jeanne Selmersheim-Desgrange was a jewelry designer prior to meeting Paul Signac in the early 1900s and she later became his wife. In 1939 she began exhibiting with the Société des Artistes Independents and came to be known primarily for her divisionist landscapes and still-lifes painted in vibrant color.
