Dina Vierny has confirmed the authenticity of this painting.

This painting was gifted by Billy Wilder to George Axelrod probably in the 1960s. Axelrod was the screenwriter for such notable films as The Seven Year Itch and he also adapted the screenplay for Breakfast at Tiffany's.
