William Henry Roe (1792-1872), architect and surveyor, was the son of Henry Roe (1767-1833). He built much property in Southampton including Portland Terrace and built Mount Beulah, Shirley Park. He married Ann, daughter of Captain Stidder of the King's Own Bodyguard. They had two sons, Rev. William Henry Roe (1824-1856), chaplain to the Gordon Highlanders in the Crimean campaign and Josiah Stidder Roe (1829-1901), solicitor.
