A TWO-STRAND CULTURED PEARL, SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND NECKLACE
Each strand composed of graduated cultured pearls, measuring from approximately 6.00 to 10.80 mm, joined by an Art Deco modified pear-shaped sapphire clasp, weighing approximately 13.96 carats, with baguette-cut diamond accents, mounted in platinum, clasp circa 1925, 13¾ ins.
With report CS 37144 dated 19 July 2004 from the American Gemological Laboratories stating although this sapphire exhibits certain visual characteristics currently associated with Burma (Myanmar), it is the opinion of the Laboratory, based on the weight of evidence, that the origin would be classified as Ceylon (Sri Lanka).
