The rectangular panel with lobed top and shaped base supporting at both sides a squatting male deity, one hand holding vase, wearing pleated sampot, the faces with serene expression and finely carved to both sides with inscriptions in Khmer script

Provenance

Acquired by the grand-father of the present owner in the early part of the 1920's in Cambodia

Unfortunate the inscriptions on this stele have not yet been deciphered. In general these inscriptions, partly in Khmer and partly in Sanskrit, are of a religious nature and record meritorious actions or pious works.
