Each small capital carved in relief with four stylised flowerheads formed of split palmettes, rings below, the tops square, the underside of one concave, on wooden stands
Larger 8¼in. (21cm.) high; smaller 7½in. (19cm.) high (2)

Lot Essay

A similar capital, with slightly fuller worked floral designs, is in the Louvre (L'Islam dans les collections nationales, exhibition catalogue, Paris, 1977, no.122, p.91). Another similar capital was sold in these Rooms 23 April 2002, lot 84.
