Each painted in black with a central arabesque cartouche surrounded by scrolling tendrils issuing flowerheads and arabesques, covered with a rich turquoise glaze, each slightly ground down

Four very similar tiles from the Sehmer Collection were sold in these Rooms, 27 April 2004, lot 211. Five further examples are in the Hetjens Museum, Düsseldorf (J. Zick et al: Islamische Keramik, exhibition catalogue, Düsseldorf, 1973, no.352 (part), pp.240-241).
