TURKEY OR THE BALKANS, SECOND HALF OF 16TH CENTURY
Of rounded form on short foot with narrow plain rim, the interior incised on a stippled ground with a band of fantastical creatures in dense foliage, with wolf seizing deer, elephant, dragon and lion bringing down gazelle, with smaller band containing dog, bull, bear and bird, all over similar foliage, the centre with later applied parcel gilt medallion with band of running animals, antelope shaped boss and pseudo-tughra, two small repairs to body of vessel
