An eXquisite copy of Sa'di's Bustan with miniature painting and calligraphy of the highest quality; this could only have been a royal manuscript.

Three of the miniatures are in the style of the 1530s, one, the third in sequence, seems slightly later, but still original. The dating of the latter seems to correspond with that given in the colophon.

The subject of the paintings is as follows:

Miniature 1) From the section on Justice. The story of the an old Dervish who was employed at the royal court and rose to become the Chief Minister causing jealousy with the previous Minister and causing the king to observe the Dervish and finally bringing the subject of the accusation against him. This miniature depicts the Dervish at court defending himself against the accusation of having affairs with the harem girls.

Miniature 2) From the section on Justice. The story of a devout man being beheaded unjustly.

Miniature 3) From the section on Humbling. The story of a Syrian king who after having visited the market; disguised; hears two dervishes' complaints and calls them to his court and treats them well.

Miniature 4) From the section on Education. The story of an old man abusing a young girl. The appearance of the old man is supposed to be like that of the Devil.
