RAMONET
For any domaine-bottled Burgundy enthusiast this is a place of pilgrimage. Extraordinary consistency in the wines, which are explosions of fresh, characterful fruit when they are youthful, and after aging in a cold damp cellar - well just do it! (AH)
Montrachet--Vintage 1982
Côte de Beaune, Ramonet
"Every time I tasted this wine between 1987 and 1990 I bestowed it a perfect score. However, at several recent tastings the wine has begun to display less than an other-worldly character. At its best, it was one of the most viscous, oily white burgundies I have ever tasted. The only wine that vaguely resembled it was the 1980 Chalone Chardonnay - amazing as that may sound. While it is still concentrated, broad-shouldered, and powerful, its freshness is not as apparent, and its high alcohol is noticeable in the finish. Last Tasted 8/92." eRobert Parker.com
