----THE TRIO----
VOSNE-ROMANÉE 1ER CRU CROS PARANTOUX

We are exceptionally fortunate to be able to offer for the second time solid cases of Vosne-Romanée, Cros Parantoux 1990. One each from Henri Jayer and Meo-Camuzet, and two bottles from Emanuel Rouget. All three growers make this ultra-rare, outstanding wine, whose vineyards are located just uphill from Grand Cru Richebourg.

The Méo-Camuzet Cros Parantoux 1990 was the 2nd vintage to be vinified by Jean-Nicolas Méo, (with Henri Jayer as Consultant), in the Méo-Camuzet winery. It comes from vineyards which touch the following two lots. Emmanuel Rouget cultivated the Henri Jayer Cros Parantoux vines, then nephew and uncle vinified the grapes together, in the same vat. The productions were too small to envisage separate vats. The tending and bottling then took place independently, each in his own manner. I asked Mr Rouget about his wine's state of maturity. "It is the eternal problem," he replied "everything depends how the wine has been stored, and whether the client likes the wine young, old or very old. One may start to drink my village appellation Vosne-Romanée 1990 now. You would need to wait until 2005 for Cros Parantoux 1990 to be reaching its apogee." Thankfully for us all of this wine was bought upon release and stored in perfect temperature and humidity controlled conditions" AH

Côte de Nuits, Meo-Camuzet
"Its bouquet is filled with sweet, jammy red and black fruits... aromas of toasty new oak...opulent, full-bodied....superb richness... The 1990s are the finest wines the Domaine Meo-Camuzet has yet produced." Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, Issue 83 10/23/92
