A Continental painted porcelain tobacco jar
Early 20th century
Modelled as a monkey, wearing a fez and smoking, the underside impressed with mark and serial number
5½in. (14cm.) high
Also including a Dresden porcelain figure of a seated monkey, with underglaze blue mark -- 9¼in. (23.5cm.) high; a Bretby pottery painted terracotta figure of a seated monkey, impressed marks 2786 -- 6in. (15.2cm.) high; and a Maiolica glazed terracotta candelstick, modelled as a monkey seated on a book, the spine incised DARWIN, impressed marks to the underside -- 7½in. (19cm.) high (4)
