Throughout World War II, artist-jewelers translated patriotic and military themes into precious metal, treating them figuratively or symbolically, so that they not only functioned as beautiful ornaments but also tokens of support for the Allied Forces. This "lady soldier" brooch by Lacloche exudes the spirit of the times and is an excellent example of this genre.
