Tasting note: First noted in June 1997 at Louis Latour's bicentenary dinner at Ch. de Clos Vougeot. Then, at 10 years of age, at the Champagne Academy dinner. By 1999 one of the two '88s at the 25-wine blind tasting in Copenhagen and holding its own. Most recently, fully mature, in fact beginning to show its age in colour, straw gold, nose - rich "old straw" and palate, powerful and nutty. Last noted at the Oxford and Cambridge Club wine committee's dinner April 2001. ****. M.B.
