Lot Essay

A well-known architect, Hrenov supervised the construction and the restoring of more than one hundred buildings in St. Petersburg. He was also a watercolorist, his works depicting mainly animal scenes. At the request of Tsar Nicholas II, he executed a group of Imperial hunting scenes. After the revolution he moved to the Far East.
