Oval, the domed base gadrooned, the lower body gadrooned, with ram's head and ring handles, with a bead border, the domed cover with gadrooning and bud finial, the body engraved with an Earl's armorials, the cover with an Earl's coronet and crest, the liner with two ring handles, marked on base, cover bezel, body of liner

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Cholmondeley, as borne by George James, 4th Earl of Cholmondeley (1749-1827). He was created the Marquess of Cholmondeley in 1815.
