the case with fielded brass-lined panels, with ebonised ripple-moulded cornice and base, the stepped chamfered top with brass pineapple finial, with petal ring handles to the sides with fishscale soundfrets, on rectangular plinth base with brass line inlay and bun feet, the white-painted Roman dial with blued spade hands (rubbed) signed WM BATCH NEWPORT, the twin chain fusee movement with anchor escapement striking on a replaced gong -- 18½in.(47cm.) high
