A GREEK TERRACOTTA PLAQUE OF A PIG
LATE 5TH-4TH CENTURY B.C., MAGNA GRAECIA
The pig facing left, with erect spinal crest and tightly curled tail; and a South Italian terracotta vessel in the form of a profile boar's head, the ear with central aperture, traces of ring handle below the jaw, with white painted details of the eye and curved tusk, a Greek inscription along rear edge probably gives the name of the ancient city of Rhegion, late 4th-1st Century B.C.
