with finely modelled Jumeau bisque head of a woman with heavy glazed brows, large lustrous blue yeux fibres, long lashes, pointed nose, closed mouth, pierced applied ears and straight neck, the rigid papier-mách©e body containing mechanism with painted metal hands, dressed in red satin ©a la Watteau, carring a flute, the going barrel movement causing the figure to turn, raise and lower his head while lifting the flute to his lips, 1880s --23½in. (60cm.) high, the head stamped in red Déposé Tete Jumeau Bte S.G.D.G. 7 (hairline crack at back of head and redressed)
