With chased and engraved gilt-finished movement, going barrel, duplex escapement, plain steel five arm balance with diamond endstone, the white enamel dial with Roman numerals and outer ring with Arabic fifteen minutes divisions, gold moon-style hands, sweep centre seconds, with red guilloché enamel bezel, in hexagonal case inset with banded, moss and dendritic agate throughout, similarly set sprung back cover with pearl-set bezel, to the blue and red champlevé enamel bow, black and red champlevé enamel pendant and bulb-shaped finial, movement signed and numbered

PROVENANCE:
Family tradition has it that this watch was the property of Christopher Fearon, who lived with James Ilberry (sic) in Canton in 1825, and thus by descent to the previous owners.

This watch is accompanied by a booklet "Pedigrees of the Fearon Family trading into China" compiled by Lt. Colonel S.P. Fearon, the previous owner's uncle, in 1972, in which mention is made of Christopher Fearon living with James Ilberry in Canton, pp 7-8, and established a company together "Ilberry Fearon & Co.".
