This watch is accompanied by a later Patek Philippe presentation box with outer packaging and a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of this watch in 1952 and its subsequent sale on 8 June 1953.

The reference 2442 was launched in 1948 and could be found in Patek Philippe sales catalogues until around 1960.

It is one of the rarest and most exclusive rectangular models by Patek Philippe. In fact, research have resulted in the discovery of less than 30 yellow gold examples of reference 2442 to have appeared at auction.
A similar watch is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, 2nd edition, p. 136, pl. 193.
