Lot Essay

French's work shows a strong influence of the graphic style of fellow Glasgow artist Jessie Marion King. She studied at the Glasgow School of Art and taught on the design side of the ceramics department there from 1909-1912. She married fellow artist George Wolliscroft Rhead and later moved to London.
