A Worcester dark-blue-ground baluster vase and cover
CIRCA 1765
The domed cover with blue flower-spray finial, the vase painted with two fan-shaped cartouches, the first with kakiemon-style flower-sprays and sheaf of wheat, the reverse with exotic birds and insects in flight within landscape, interspersed with two mons containing Kakiemon-style flower-sprays, reserved on a blue ground gilt with flowering branches and Oriental shrubs, the neck and footrim painted with a broad band of Kakiemon-style flowers within gilt lines (chipping to finial, very light rubbing to enamels and gilding)
