A 19th-Century ivory and lacquered-brass folding compass microscope,
unsigned, with threaded lens on a folding arm, folding turned ivory handle, the slotted brass bar with movable forceps mount and forceps, in a fitted plush-lined mahogany box -- 9.3cm. (3 5/8in.) wide; and a tortoiseshell-mounted magnifier/filter set, one end with three folding magnifiers of varying strengths, the other end with five folding coloured-glass filters -- 10.8cm. (4¼in.) wide
