A good 19th-Century oxidised-brass Lean-pattern circumferentor,
by Negretti & Zambra London, the 6¾-inch telescope with rack and pinion focusing and crosshair adjustment screws, mounted over a bubble level and vernier arm atop a horizontal half-circle and adjusted with rack and pinion, the half circle graduated in two quadrants on one side with a differential scale on the reverse, over the 5 3/8-inch horizontal plate with bubble level and glazed compass with edgebar needle, declination scale and fine-screw adjustment and clamp, raised on a staff or tripod mounting, with twin alidades for use in place of the telescope, in a fitted mahogany carrying case -- 25.7cm. (10 1/8in.) wide
