A 20th-Century grey-blue enamelled transit theodolite,
unsigned, but of Stanley pattern, the 11-inch long telescope with swinging dust-cover, ray shade, rack and pinion focusing to the objective and cross-hair adjustment screws, the 7-inch vertical circle with silvered scale, twin verniers marked C and D, with magnifiers, bubble level and fine-screw adjustment, raised on two large supports, one with bubble level, over the 6½-inch horizontal circle with fine-screw adjustment and bubble level, the chamfered edge with enclosed silver scale, twin verniers marked A and B and magnifiers, on a three-screw foot with tripod mounting, fine-screw adjustment and trough compass, with eyepiece extension tube, a smoked eyepiece and plumb bob in a fitted mahogany carrying case with carrying strap -- 57.1cm. (22½in.) wide
