A fine mid 18th-Century silver Butterfield-type compass sundial,
signed Langlois AParis Galleries du Louvre, the folding gnomon with bird-shaped pointer and 40-60° scale, the octagonal horizontal plate with four hour scales and glazed compass with sixteen points initialled and blued-iron needle, the underside engraved with the latitudes of twenty-seven continental cities and towns, in a brown plush-lined fishskin-covered case with one (of two) silver hooks and eyes (some peeling to cover) -- 9cm.
