Lot Essay

Accompanied by Patek Philippe Certificat d'Origine et de Garantie and Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1908 and its subsequent sale on 18 January 1909 and original fitted leather presentation box numbered 148'208.

Furthermore delivered with Patek Philippe original invoice dated 18 January 1909, addressed to Madame Groothoff, Genève, specifying the purchase of the watch and chain for the total amount SFr. 500 net.

It is interesting to note that whereas the watch was priced at SFr. 360, the chain would amount to SFr. 180, showing the relative importance and value. It is furthermore amusing to read the original certificate describing the enamel decoration as "gris souris" or "mouse grey".
